Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club Challenge

Over the weekend of September 17th, multiple members of the Red Star Sailing Team had the oppurtunity to participate in the Corinthian Yacht Club Challenge for Small Yachts. This event was hosted by Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club in Oyster Bay, NY.

During the course of the four day event, we were only able to get three good days of sailing in. This was due to light winds that played a major factor into the overall theme of the weekend. Each day, we were greeted with a daily postponement, followed by many tows from umpires as we tried to find areas with the best breeze.

On the first day of racing we saw wind from all different directions. We had two very tight finishes against Chris Poole of Riptide Racing and with Scotty Dickson of Long Beach Yacht Club. We ended the first day with three wins and two losses.

The next generation of America's best sailors is up and coming. Our team is a solid foundation for passionate individuals to take the next step.
