J Fest San Diego

The 40th anniversary of J Boats was celebrated as part of the J/Fest regatta that was hosted by San Diego Yacht Club in sunny Southern California on September 23 & 24th. The regatta attracted 27 J/120s, J/105s, J/70s, and several other PHRF J boats leading to tough competition sail off of Coronado Roads. The largest class in attendance was the J70s with 13 boats on the line and 52 people in the heat of battle. The conditions ranged from 5 knots of breeze out of  south-west on the first day of racing to 20 knots out of the north-west on the second day. Team Red Star under sail number USA 70 onboard the Sloop John B came to regatta ready to give it their all against the older competition. After 5 races over the 2 days Team Red Star finished tied for 7th with 34 points.
